Two Indonesian fishermen detained by the Australian border force for illegal fishing off the Kimberley’s Kuri Bay have been jailed while 18 others have been convicted for illegal fishing after hearings in Darwin’s Magistrates’ Court.
Four vessels were intercepted and apprehended by the Australian border on August 6 after local fishing tour operator Peter Tucker alerted and guided authorities to the boats that were hiding in Kuri Bay – nearly 400 km north west of Broome.
