Taiya Sampson: Glassing victim’s family speaks out after unprovoked attack at Alkimos pub

Taiya Sampson’s family have spoken out after an alleged unprovoked glassing attack on Friday night in Alkimos that left the 20-year-old with serious facial injuries.

Sampson underwent plastic surgery on Saturday night to repair wounds on her face, including a 5cm gash that narrowly missed her right eye.

It is alleged Sampson was attacked at The Landing just before 10.30pm on Friday night, when an argument broke out.

It is then alleged a 20-year-old woman then hit Ms Sampson in the face with a wine glass, causing serious injury.

Maria Sampson said she hoped by speaking out she could help stop a similar attack from happening to someone else’s daughter.

She said the alleged glassing on her daughter was unprovoked and had her scared to leave the house.

She said her daughter had not been drinking on the night of the alleged attack.
