Matt Richardson: WA cycling star opens up on reason for England defection

West Australian cycling defector Matt Richardson says his motivation for switching to England was about “chasing a dream” and competing for the nation of his birth.

Track cycling star Richardson, 25, shocked the country’s governing body AusCycling by announcing he was returning to the country he left as a nine-year-old less than two weeks after winning two silver medals in the men’s sprint and keirin and a bronze in the men’s team sprints at the Paris Olympics.
