Financial claims over police informants to be banned

No one will be able to sue for compensation over the use of lawyers as police informants in Victoria, under proposed new laws.

The State Civil Liability (Police Informants) Bill 2024 covers financial claims related to “information sharing or other assistance” from former gangland barrister Nicola Gobbo and slain lawyer Joseph Acquaro.
