Ben Cousins and Harley Reid join forces as West Coast Eagles fans relish chance to see history

The dream combination of Harley Reid and Ben Cousins is set to electrify The Camfield on Tuesday night with the pair coming together for a show described as the biggest AFL speaking event to ever hit Perth.

The sold-out event, which has been organised by Z Entertainment, has been dubbed “The Prince & The Prodigy” and will see Cousins and Reid speaking on stage together and having photos with fans.

Z Entertainment boss Alan Zanich said it would be a night that will go down in WA football history.

“Have we seen a bigger AFL event in Western Australia than this? I don’t think so,” he said.

“We’ve got Gary Ablett Jr coming out this week too, but there’s something really special about Ben Cousins and Harley Reid together.

“They’ve got the number nine that will always link them. They’re the pair that have come into the game with all of the hype.

“Ben has always been the Prince of Perth and Harley is obviously the prodigy. It’s exciting.

“Ben was the father-son pick who came in and had a huge impact, people loved him and he became the captain. Harley has introduced an innovative way for draftees to come into the AFL and it’s been the perfect storm for the Eagles.

“They needed someone with the talent of Harley and he needed a team that was desperate for a playmaker.”

Cousins and Reid were pictured together at West Coast earlier this year, but that was behind the closed doors of the football club.

Cousins played 238 games for West Coast, won the 2005 Brownlow Medal, the 2006 premiership and is a six-time All-Australian.

Reid is expected to be offered the largest contract in AFL history when his deal expires at the end of 2026 and has the football world at his feet thanks to his combination of speed, power, skill and charisma.

Zanich said fans were clambering for the chance to meet them.

“They are a pair who live their lives with hype and hysteria,” he said.

“I’ve been working on this happening for some time. We did a show with Harley before he’d even played a game and have done shows with Ben, but it’s taken this long to get them together.”
